News & Highlights from BerlinKassel Summer School: Shaping World Economy International Summer School, co-organised with the University of Kassel, August 25-29, 2008, Hofgeismar/Kassel The shaping of Globalization is one of the main challenges of our time. The objectives and instruments how to shape the ongoing globalization process in a social and democratic way is heavily debated. In our working context we are frequently confronted with the effects of globalization without having enough time to have a closer look on the problems and to analyze political options to deal with them. The Summer School provides an opportunity to learn more about economy and globalization and the ways and means of how to shape globalization. download programme Addressing Climate Change: A Challenge for International Cooperation Public Panel Discussion co-organised with The Energy and Resources Institute TERI May 14, 2008, 14:30-17:00 hrs in Bonn Recent reports of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have spread awareness of the dramatic extent of the widely man-made climate change. The answers that we find to this challenge will shape the future of our societies. Climate Policy belongs to the most urging, but also most ambitious structural objectives of today’s politics. Climate Policy challenges are global by nature; accordingly they can be dealt with only globally and multilaterally. Even in acknowledging differentiated responsibilities and varying abilities, the climate change can only be fought successfully, if the international community commits to combined efforts and agrees on a common perspective and a political agenda. How this international cooperation on climate policy is to be ensured, how it needs to be designed and what we can expect from it, that is what we want to discuss with renowned experts and decision makers.
